Wayne’s miniature display bases are specifically crafted to fit the industry-standard plastic bases that miniatures are mounted on. Every display base comes with a magnetized plastic base that holds the mini to the wood base securely, yet is easy to remove. Powerful neodynium magnets are inset into the surface of the wood display base, and the plastic base is filled with steel-infused epoxy that is ready for mounting the slotta base or may be drilled and pinned. The result is an innovative system that allows for easy mounting on the wooden display base for displaying at home, capturing in photo, or entering into painting competitions…yet still allows the mini to be readily removed for gaming or any other reason.
Wayne’s display bases come in a variety of shapes and sizes, from hand-lathed round bases, router-shaped square bases, and rectangular bases for mounting knights on horseback. Larger diorama bases are available as well as custom orders. A variety of exotic and domestic hardwoods are used, such as ebony, padauk, amboyna burl, cherry, flamewood, jatoba, walnut, mahogany, ipe, purpleheart, and many others. The bases are carefully polished to a high-lustre finish ranging from satin to gloss, that lets the natural beauty of the wood shine through. Dark green velvet is applied to the undersides to protect furniture and enhance the look and feel of the display base.
These display bases are not churned out in a factory, but are lovingly hand-crafted one at a time by master woodworker, Wayne Rogers.
